3bits - SyncLost | audio installation
SyncLost is a multi-user installation for immersion in the history of electronic music. From a complex timeline, rhythms and sub-rhythms merge to create new sounds. The project’s objective is to create an interface where users can view all the connections between the main styles of electronic music through visual and audible feedback. The choice is individual and leads to a collective consequence in the spatial visualization of information.

The XX | A Sculpture of an Album | Vinyl Factory, London
The sculpture is the brainchild of Partizan director Saam Farahmand, who is keen to push the boundaries of what music
videos can offer. “Music videos are a 2D visual interpretation of a song,” he explains. “We are interested in creating spaces
that exist as a 3D physical interpretation of a song or an album, and that is what we have created for the album xx.
”The piece consists of three large audio-visual units that are displayed in the space, appearing somewhat like giant iPods.
Each contains a film of one of the three members of The XX, shot by Farahmand, as they play through their
eponymously-titled debut album. Alongside displaying the beautiful films, the units also emit a lightshow that
reacts to the music. The overall affect is simple yet compelling.
“It shares sensibilities with art installations, but it should not be considered in this context,” continues Farahmand.
“It is in essence a physical music video, a looping shrine to the album that you cannot compress, send or turn off.
We have to understand that these pop-up ‘rooms’ and ‘spaces’ should and will become as commonplace as music
videos, bridging the gap until we have the technology to ‘stream’ a 3D experience through our home computer as if
it was a YouTube clip. The xx are the perfect ambassadors for the medium. Their music is mesmerising,
and deeply physically affecting.”
The installation will be on show at The Vinyl Factory (accessed via Phonica record store on 51 Poland Street, W1)
until Tuesday, January 12. In addition, The Vinyl Factory has created a deluxe vinyl version of The xx’s album to
celebrate the event, which is on sale at Phonica. The package will include three prints of stills taken from Farahmand’s
footage, one of each band member, signed by each.

ZAAT MOSTRA DE ARTES VISUAIS E SONORAS 009 é a quarta edição de uma iniciativa de arte contemporânea e reflexão cultural. Os trabalhos propostos inscrevem-se no espaço de um parque de estacionamento subterrâneo. O parque de estacionamento resume-se a um espaço quotidiano e fechado que releva de uma pratica esquecida porque automatizada. E caracterizado pelo seu funcionamento à vocação única e pela circulação não interrompida que provoca, in fine ausência de humanidade. Pensar os lugares no âmbito da contemporaneidade abre caminhos a novas reflexões. O lugar podia definir-se em função do modo de espacialização, de estar no espaço. Os “não lugares” são colectivos e comuns sem possibilidade de apropriação e de investimento do espaço: sítios de passagem, de frequentação no anonimato, pontos de transição prolongados e de ocupação provisória. A “impossível viagem” que sugere ZAAT nesse contexto urbano é de experiências singulares no confronto entre trânsito e contemplação. Pode considerar a proposta aqui apresentada com um apelo a alteridade de uso tanto na pratica social individual do espaço urbano como nos habituais ambientes e referentes atribuídos à divulgação artística.

Concurso Internacional de Artes Visuais | Unesco Louis François | > 2 FEV
O Centro da Unesco Louis François promove o Concurso Internacional de Artes Visuais com o tema "Azul, amarelo, vermelho...uma paleta de cores". Esta competição está aberta a crianças e jovens dos 3 aos 25 anos, divididos por 6 grupos etários.
A data limite para entrega de trabalhos é o dia 2 de Fevereiro de 2010.
Os 100 trabalhos vencedores serão exibidos na Convenção Internacional de Arte "Graines d'Artistes du monde entier".

A Bienal Portugal Arte 2010 é uma mostra internacional de arte contemporânea que vai expor trabalhos de artistas consagrados e de jovens artistas, nacionais e internacionais, na cidade de Lisboa e no Concelho de Grândola a partir de Junho de 2010.
No âmbito da Bienal vai ser lançado o Prémio Internacional de Arte Pública, dirigido a artistas nacionais e internacionais, que vai dotar instalações da EDP com obras de arte de dimensão pública, produzidas em Portugal e com materiais portugueses por artistas, consagrados e emergentes, que se movimentam nos circuitos de Artes Plásticas e Escultura.
Apresentar ao publico português a arte contemporânea de uma forma inovadora e criativa, expondo obras em espaços, praças e avenidas em conjunto com uma programação cultural interactiva, é grande objectivo desta mostra, que já conta com a confirmação de três artistas internacionais consagrados: Chris Burden, Sterling Ruby e os Faile.

In an effort to establish new platforms for public art and performance, the multimedia duo SWEATSHOPPE has developed a new interactive technology that enables them to explore the relationship between video, mark making and architecture. Dubbed "video painting", this technology allows them to essentially "paint" video onto any surface.
